My name is John C. Wawerna. I have been practicing law in Nevada for more than 20 years. I have been a resident of Las Vegas since 1955 and have seen the legal system grow and change over the years. In that time, I have worn many hats; I have been a member of the Clark county sheriff?s office, forensic expert for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, deputy district attorney with the Clark County District Attorneys Office and lead representative of the investigation of the MGM and Hilton fires. I have also maintained affiliations to several professional groups such as the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the New York Academy of Science, and many others. Now my focus is on serving those who need my assistance in the areas of Personal Injury Law, Criminal Defense Law and Family Law. I started my education at UNLV and received undergraduate work at Colorado State University and graduate work at George Washington University in Washington D.C. and did my legal training at California Western Scholl of LAW in San Diego. Before becoming a lawyer I was pathogenic bacteriologist for the State of Nevada and then worked at the Nevada test site and worked in occupational medicine industrial hygiene section for Rico Corporation where my responsibility was to protect the worker from all non-radiological health hazards; toxic fumes, toxic chemicals. I have also worked as a researcher for the United States Public Health service, southwest biological health lab that eventually became one of the first labs to be part of the U.S. Environmental protection agency.
